The Cast of “A Princess In The Ghetto” Pulls Up on Queen Indy Bee!
It was all love and high energy when the cast of A Princess In The Ghetto pulled up to the Majic 94.5 studios to chop it up live on air with the DF-Dub’s favorite mid-day personality, Queen Indy Bee! You already know when Queen Indy’s in the building, it’s all about good vibes, real talk, and spotlighting our community’s powerful voices—and this cast did NOT disappoint.
From the jump, you could feel the passion in the room. They dropped gems about what audiences can expect this Sunday at The Black Academy of Arts and Letters (TBAAL), located at 1309 Canton St., Dallas, TX 75201. The stage play, written by Johnnie Johnson, is a bold, emotional journey set in the aftermath of an unprovoked police shooting. It tells the story of a young woman stuck in a cycle of survival—until love, knowledge, and self-awareness help her rise into her full power.
Starring Dallas’ own Koryan “Nayrok” Strode and the legendary comedian Shuckey Duckey, this cast is bringing fire to the stage. Directed by the brilliant Iv Amenti and with musical direction by the incomparable Geno Young, the play also features a special performance by spoken word powerhouse I Am D Walk. This is Dallas talent at its finest, coming together to tell a story that’s as real as it is inspiring.
There are two showtimes this Sunday, April 21st — 3:30 PM and 7:30 PM, so there’s no excuse to miss this one. Whether you’re a fan of theater, live music, or spoken word, A Princess In The Ghetto is the perfect way to celebrate Dallas Arts Month and National Poetry Month.
